Fat is Not Your Enemy

by Amy on December 30, 2010

It’s just a neutral thing. It doesn’t make you any less of a person to carry excess weight. When you look in the mirror and you see fat, how do you feel? It’s not the fat that is making you feel that way, it’s what you make that fat mean. It’s what YOU say to yourself about that fat. Afterall, fat is just fat. Nothing more. Neither good nor bad.

Please do not wage a war against your fat.

I learned that Isabelle Caro, a French model, is dead from anorexia at age 28.

Thanks Amy for posting this, it was heart wrenching. This kind of stuff is so hard for me to watch. I battle my weight everyday and have since I was in grade school. I can’t say that I’m winning the battle but I know I’m not loosing it either.

To think that the size of your body has anything to do with the quality of your Self is just a belief–not true at all–but so hard to release sometimes. I noticed (again) last weekend that my 72 year old mother-in-law is still so concerned with staying thin. It’s easy to think by age 72 we should be over it already. But will we? WHEN will we? If we’re not working on disproving that belief at 22 or 32 or 42, will we be working on it at 72? Thank you for sharing this, Amy!
